TRANSITIONS

4 years ago I came from the Wichita Diocese to serve on loan to the Jefferson City Diocese.  Now my Bishop, the bishop of Wichita, wants me back in Kansas the end of June.  It’s been a privilege to serve the people of St Anthony’s Parish these 4 years.  Each priest has their own strengths and gifts that they bring to an assignment, and that will be true of your next priest as well.  Father Paulinus Aneke will be coming to take my place here.  The church in Nigeria is a thriving young church, but it is one also marked by anti-Christian violence.  Their abundance of vocations is enriching the church in the United States that struggles for vocations.  But the Catholic Church has always been a missionary church from the first apostles to the Irish missionaries to the priests from India, Nigeria and Uganda today.  Fr. Paulinus also has a doctorate, so he is more educated than I.  I wish him well in his service to you and the diocese.
